Nozawa onsen
Nozawa Onsen is a great ski holiday destination for the winter months and a beautiful spot to spend some time in the spring, summer and autumn. Located at the base of the Kenashi-Yama Mountain, about an hours drive from Nagano city or 20 mins drive from Iiyama bullet train station it is easy access from most major hubs. Famed for its ski resort terrain and infrastructure, powder snow, onsens, good food, quaint streets and architecture.

スキー場は初心者から上級者まで楽しめ、コースも豊富です。天候は安定していることが多いことからリピーターの方が多く見られます。
eating & drinking
Although the village is relatively small it boasts over 100 restaurants and bars open for the winter season. This creates a great ski village atmosphere. Ask our staff for some recommendations and keep in mind the village can get busy over the winter period so it is a good idea to make some reservations in advance.
野沢温泉村はそこまで大きくはないですが、スキーシーズンはたくさんのレストランやバーで賑わいます。レストランは事前に予約をすることをおすすめしますが、気軽に入れるお店もたくさんあります。

Nozawa Onsen has 13 free onsens dotted around the village. If you are unsure of onsen protocol have a look here at the onsen guide. The onsens here in Nozawa Onsen have been around for ages (Edo period). They are beautifully constructed and each one has its own unique vibe and water characteristics. Careful though as these onsens can be hot… like really hot.
野沢温泉といえば外湯です。村には13の無料温泉があり、全て地元の方だけではなく多くの観光客に愛されています。外湯は地元の方の生活の一部分です。旅行の際は決められたルールを守り、外湯でゆっくり疲れた体を癒しましょう。
dosoujiin fire festival / 野沢温泉の道祖神祭り
Each year in Nozawa Onsen is the Dosojiin Fire Festival. Trees are cut down in October and then are dragged through the village on the 13th of January from which a huge wooden tower or Shaden is constructed. On the 15th of January this Shaden is set alight (big time). An awesome event to enjoy but not to forget to respect its deep meaning and significance to the locals.
道祖神祭は野沢温泉の冬の大イベントです。この火祭りのために足を運ぶ人も多く、とてもエキサイティングなお祭です。その迫力は日本の火祭りの中でもトップクラスです。こちらもまた地元の伝統ですので毎年観光客で賑わいますが、伝統への敬意は忘れずに楽しみましょう。
